Vallourec expands large-size threading capabilities at Changzhou as the plant marks its 20th anniversary
As Vallourec’s Changzhou plant in China celebrates its 20th anniversary, a new accessory threading unit is now operational, marking another milestone in the site’s development. The new line strengthens local capabilities for large-size Oilfield Accessories and enables customers to benefit from shorter transportation times, greater flexibility and Vallourec-controlled processing.
In October, Vallourec completed the commissioning of a new threading line at its Changzhou facility, which has now begun processing customer orders.
With an annual capacity of approximately 5,000 pieces, the new unit brings the total annual threading capacity of the Changzhou Accessories business to around 20,000 pieces across the full plant.
Bringing large-size threading closer to customers
Until now, large-size workpieces requiring threading had to be sent to a third-party licensed manufacturer for processing. With the new machine in operation, customers can now send these products directly to Vallourec’s Changzhou facility.
This more integrated approach simplifies the processing route and reduces transportation time. Keeping the operation within Vallourec also provides customers with greater assurance that their products are processed under Vallourec’s own quality requirements and expertise.
The additional capacity also gives the Changzhou plant greater flexibility when managing production schedules, helping it respond more effectively to customers with fast-delivery requirements.
Strengthening localized service in China
The investment reflects Vallourec’s continued focus on developing capabilities close to its customers and strengthening the services available locally.
By expanding its capacity for large-size Accessories threading in Changzhou, Vallourec China is reinforcing its ability to provide customers with faster response times, more flexible production scheduling and locally available Vallourec expertise.
The commissioning marks another step in the development of Vallourec’s local Accessories offering in China, with a continued focus on responsiveness, quality and service throughout the customer journey.
