Between Ambition, Resilience, and Passion: The Inspiring Journeys of Three Female Quality Inspectors at Vallourec in Mexico
At Vallourec, career opportunities know no borders or gender barriers. Three employees from Vallourec Oil & Gas Mexico (VOGMX), Areli Elvira Gamboa, Tania de la Paz Reyes, and Yamilette Vasquez, share their journeys, challenges, and ambitions. Their stories illustrate the importance of perseverance and self-improvement in an industrial environment that is still largely male-dominated.

Different Origins and Dreams, One Common Ambition
Areli, Tania, and Yamilette grew up in diverse environments, each with their own aspirations. Areli spent her childhood in Santa Rita, marked by family challenges that forged her determination. Her dream? To build a stable future and support her mother.
Tania, originally from Veracruz, was surrounded by love and strong values passed down by her family, especially her father, a model of integrity and hard work. Yamilette grew up in the peaceful community of Palmaritos, nurturing the dream of continuing her studies and helping her mother. Despite different contexts, they share a common ambition: to succeed in their careers and thrive professionally.
Industry: A Domain of Success for Women Who Dare
Entering the workforce was not a smooth journey for these three women. Each faced obstacles, whether it was the difficulty of finding a job that matched their studies, gender prejudices, or the lack of financial resources to continue their education.
Areli recalls the pressure of having to pass her entrance exam at Vallourec, a highly coveted company. “I was nervous about not succeeding, but today, I am proud to be a quality inspector,” she confides.
Tania had to choose between working and studying due to insufficient funds. Instead of giving up, she found a way to continue her academic journey while working. “I learned that nothing is impossible with determination,” she asserts.
Yamilette also faced limitations imposed on women in certain professions.
We are often confined to certain roles, but Vallourec gives us a chance to show that we are just as capable. We must dare. Dare to believe in our abilities and seize the opportunities that come our way.
This is also the commitment of Vallourec, whose values are reflected in its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program “We are Vallourec”. This program embraces all differences, with a particular focus on three key aspects of diversity: gender, culture, and generations.
Areli, Tania, and Yamilette perfectly illustrate the values of “We are Vallourec”. Their inspiring journeys show how the Group offers an inclusive environment and growth opportunities, enabling each employee to achieve their professional and personal ambitions.

Vallourec, a Place of Opportunities and Growth
Despite these challenges, their journey at Vallourec has allowed them to evolve and thrive. Today, as quality inspectors, they play a key role in ensuring standards and process safety.
Despite the challenges they faced, their journey at Vallourec has allowed them to evolve and thrive. Today, all three are quality inspectors, responsible for inspecting couplings to ensure they are free of defects and meet defined measurements. They play a key role in maintaining standards and process safety. But beyond the position, it is the company’s culture that has left a mark on them.
Here, we have opportunities for advancement, training, and a genuine concern for employee well-being
It is a company that pushes us to achieve our personal and professional goals.
For Yamilette, the inclusive environment and the opportunity to grow in her field are major assets.
Strong Ambitions for the Future
Looking to the future, these three women have big aspirations. They aim to continue learning and progressing. Yamilette, for instance, envisions herself in a higher responsibility position at Vallourec after obtaining an engineering degree. If they had advice for those who want to join them? “Don’t let this opportunity pass by,” insists Areli. Tania adds: “Believe in yourself, you are capable.” Yamilette concludes with a valuable lesson: “You have to dare to seize the opportunities that come your way.” Their testimonies illustrate an essential truth: success is not only measured by the destination but also by the challenges overcome along the way. At Vallourec, these women are paving their way with determination, proving every day that the industry is also a field of success for those who dare to believe in it.
