Our goal is to optimally meet the demands and expectations of our customers in a safe working environment.
Vallourec operates two tube mills with different manufacturing processes in North Rhine-Westphalia (Düsseldorf and Mülheim an der Ruhr) and a unique research centre in Saxony (Riesa) which simulates new production processes for our mills. Many years of know-how, meaningful investments in modern plant technology, continuous process optimisation as well as a motivated and highly qualified team ensure the high quality of our pipes.
The rolling mill at the Düsseldorf-Rath site started operations as early as 1899 and was planned to replace the Mannesmann brothers' founder rolling mill in Remscheid.
Over the decades, the plant was constantly expanded and modernised. It is one of the world's most efficient rolling mills for the production of seamless steel tubes.
With the plug mill and the pilger mill, two independent and extremely efficient production plants are available at the Düsseldorf-Rath site.
The plants differ in the dimensions that can be produced: The special strength of the pilger rolling mill are tubes with large diameters and wall thicknesses.
The range of dimensions starts at 241 mm and ends at 711 mm outside diameter with wall thicknesses from 10 to 110 mm.
The plug rolling mill covers the size range from 193.7 to 406.4 mm. Square hollow sections in the range 150 x 150 mm to 400 x 200 mm with wall thicknesses from 6.3 mm to 25 mm can also be produced.
With the Mülheim an der Ruhr tube continuous rolling mill built in 1966, the Vallourec Group operates one of the most versatile rolling mills for seamless steel tubes up to 7″ outside diameter.
Using highly developed technology, the company produces premium tubes as well as square and rectangular hollow sections in a wide range of dimensions.
The seamless products can be manufactured in all common materials up to extremely resilient 13 percent chromium steel.
The Vallourec Competence Center Riesa is unique in the world and has contributed to the success of the Vallourec Group since 2010. When Vallourec develops a new steel, it is not only thoroughly tested in the laboratory. Since 2010, the company has also had its own test facility, where it carries out pilot tests on 2,500 square meters. This saves material, ongoing production is not interrupted and the results can easily be transferred to industrial dimensions. At the heart of the competence center are a universal piercing mill, a three-roll bar mill (PQF®) (5 stands) and a four-hammer radial forge for the production of seamless tubes and premium forged pipes (PFP®).
