Event

From October 31st to November 3rd, Vallourec was present at the ADIPEC exhibition and conference in Abu Dhabi. This key event in the Middle East, the world's most influential exhibition for the Oil & Gas market, welcomed this year over 160,000 trade visitors, 2,200 exhibiting companies, and 54 NOCs and IOCs.

A new era

One of the main topics of this year’s event was decarbonization and energy transition and Vallourec delivered, presenting Vallourec® New Energies, its new portfolio of solutions for the energy transition. At our booth, interested visitors could discuss with our experts their projects for hydrogen, carbon capture (CCUS) and geothermal energy. Visitor feedback was very positive, recognizing Vallourec’s material expertise and infrastructure knowledge with several promising discussions for future collaboration.

The information present at our booth was backed by in-depth technical presentations given by our experts at the conferences. Ulrika Wising, Senior Vice President Energy Transition, participated in a strategic panel discussion on scaling up hydrogen projects to secure sufficient supply and demand while Florian Thebault, Principal Corrosion Engineer, presented the hydrogen stress cracking resistance results of seamless pipes carried out by Vallourec for hydrogen storage and transport applications. Concerning carbon capture, Leila Faramarzi, CCUS Director, gave a presentation on building safe CO2 transport infrastructure. Overall, many attendees were very interested in our expertise and testing protocols presented at the conference, driving them to our booth for follow-up discussions.

Local presence for local projects

Many visitors were very interested in our capabilities in the Middle East. With a finishing unit and services provider in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, providing heat treatment and threading, as well as services in Abu Dhabi, UAE, providing advanced inventory services, Vallourec has a strong footprint in the Middle East capable of supporting its customers’ projects in the region. Visitors at the booth could virtually visit both Vallourec facilities through virtual reality (VR) headsets, discovering our production and storage capacities. These VR experiences were most appreciated by customers and prospects and paved the way for in-person visits of our sites and potential further collaborations.

Innovative solutions

In addition, Vallourec is gaining a reputation as an innovative solutions provider focused on meeting customer challenges and optimizing operations.

At the conference, Khaled Hamdani, Well Engineering Marketing & Development Manager, gave a presentation on Intelligent Pipe, Vallourec’s multi-annuli monitoring solution which sends up well data in real time thanks to sensors attached directly to the string. In addition, Jithin Mathew, Additive Manufacturing Manager, presented the benefits of the WAAM (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing) technology for the manufacturing of metallic parts which allows for shorter lead times and less CO2 emissions. Both innovative technologies attracted several interested parties who visited the booth afterwards to learn more about them and the services provided by Vallourec.

Finally, our In-pipe Rover sample also drew visitors’ attention who wished to know how the automized device works in collecting actual pipe data before running-in-hole. This pipe data is obtained as part of our Prime Mapping service, which provides operators with actual bore volume for cement displacement, best packer fit selection and thickest pipe segregation for casing wear mitigation.

A successful edition

ADIPEC 2022 was once again a great success and a unique opportunity to interact with customers, prospects and major industry players. Booth visitors remarked on Vallourec’s “fresh new image and offer” declaring its pertinence in the industry. Vallourec representatives had several promising discussions with prospective customers on future collaborations especially on energy transition projects and innovative solutions for traditional oil & gas applications.

"We are very pleased to have had the opportunity to once again demonstrate to our customers and prospects our ability to provide advanced solutions, combining traditional products, innovations and new energy solutions that enhance the efficiency of their current and future operations while preparing the transition to low-carbon energies. "
Jérôme Favre, Vice President Sales Middle East
