International Women’s Rights Day provides us with the opportunity to think about the value of diversity within Vallourec and the role that each of us can play in promoting gender equality.
One goal: equality!
The 2020 theme #EachforEqual is a call to action to accelerate gender parity. It also emphasizes the notion of "collective individualism". Our individual actions and behaviors can have an impact on our larger society. Everyone has a role to play in forging a more balanced world. We can choose individually and/or collectively to challenge stereotypes, fight biases, broaden perceptions and improve situations. We can make positive change happen.
At Group level, to help achieve this equality objective, the [email protected] program has been strengthened since 2019. It is structured around three priorities: have the same percentage of women at all hierarchical levels, ensure the conditions of success for all and guarantee equal pay.
Vallourec moves forward
The progress made by Vallourec this year is significant and very encouraging. I would particularly like to thank the steering committee of [email protected], the HR teams and the many motivated and voluntary men and women in all entities who are committed on a daily basis to make diversity evolve within our Group.
Sylvie Dubois-Decool Director of Innovation and Head of the [email protected] program
We have made real progress on our key performance indicators (KPIs) such as the number of mentorships, teleworking, the significant increase in the promotion of women in Brazil and UAE and the implementation of monitoring tools for promotion or salary comparisons. Beyond the tools, the involvement of our local teams in the regions through numerous internal or external events or programs is a key element in the success of our program. For instance, the initiatives undertaken for March 8th were a success, involving many men and women, from all regions and all hierarchical levels.
I am very proud of what Vallourec has collectively achieved over the recent months with respect to gender diversity. In this highly strategic area for the Group, we have obtained results that motivate us to continue and progress. The game plan is clear, let's make sure we turn these promising initial results into sustainable improvements.
