Vallourec supplies hot-rolled tubes and tube solutions for various industries, and particularly the mechanical engineering, automotive and construction sectors. These solutions respond to very specific requirements and offer tangible added value.

 

 

Mechanical engineering
 

Vallourec is the European market leader in seamless engineering tubes.

Seamless tubes are used in a broad spectrum of mechanical engineering applications: hydraulic cylinders, axles, cranes, mining equipment, agricultural machinery, bearings, OCTG mechanicals etc. The wide range of tube sizes, and machining equipment available at Vallourec plants, enables us to meet all customer requirements.

 

In order to satisfy its customers' specific needs, Vallourec has developed new brands for special grades.

 

Forterior® – Higher strength for more demanding mechanical engineering applications. Used e.g. in agricultural equipment.

Spirafort® – Excellent machinability and high strength. Used for Mecaplus tubes for mechanical tubing.

Avadur® – When special hardness and hardenability are called for, such as in OCTG mechanical engineering applications.

Oceanfit® – Tubes for challenging offshore applications

FineXcell® – High-tech tubes in fine-grain steels of the highest quality.

Applications include special crane construction, load bearing structures, and hydraulic cylinders.

The Group also develops customized tube solutions.

Automotive

 


Vallourec's automotive tubes and components are mainly destined for the Brazilian market. They are aimed at manufacturers of heavy trucks, light vehicles, two-wheeled vehicles, building site vehicles and agricultural equipment.

Vallourec teams work with major design offices to offer innovative tailor-made solutions for customers known for their strict standards. These mostly apply to suspension and transmission parts, structural and passive safety components, shock absorbers, bearings and heavy truck axles.

Construction

 


Vallourec supplies structural tubes used in groundbreaking architectural projects, industrial,public, or private buildings.

In the construction industry, the Group specializes in hot-rolled hollow sections (MSH sections)..  Modern steel architecture with its elegant and transparent shapes would be practically impossible without hot-rolled hollow sections. World-leading architects use hollow sections from Vallourec (MSH sections) to realize special wide-span structures, e.g. in airport terminals, stadiums, bridges and high rise buildings.


In order to maintain its competitive edge over more conventional solutions, the Group has invested in R&D programs aimed at improving existing products and building on the range of products and solutions on offer. PREON is the brand under which Vallourec develops a variety of solutions, e.g. PREON roof for industrial hall construction or PREON marine for foundations for offshore wind turbines.


 

FOCUS ON...


 

New York - tubes on top!

Vallourec is supplying MSH hollow sections for the antenna for the future One World Trade Center in New York. Built from 480 metric tons of hollow sections manufactured by Vallourec plants in France and Germany, the antenna will be installed on the top of the  building to reach the height of 1776 feet  (541 m), in commemoration of Independence Day in 1776.

In the shape of its Industry Competence Center (ICC), the Industry Division has established its own research and development center devoted to the following activities:
