For Challenging Offshore Applications

Vallourec's series of Oceanfit® grades is geared specifically to offshore applications where tubes are exposed to extreme environmental conditions. Besides outstanding mechanical properties and impact toughness at temperatures well below freezing point, these grades possess excellent welding properties. The series exceeds the requirements of API 5 L/ISO 3183, EN 10225 and EN 10210 as well as NORSOK. Individual grades can be tailored to customer needs.

 

Applications

Oceanfit® grades are available in nine different levels of yield strength/impact toughness combinations, with yield strengths between 355 and 770 MPa and impact toughness down to -60 °C. Depending on the harshness of conditions, Oceanfit® grades can be selected to precisely match application requirements in ship construction, superstructures, jack-up rigs, platform cranes, helicopter decks and housings specifically designed for long-term resistance in challenging project environments.

Charpy V-notch test shall be performed on transverse or longitudinal specimens, depending on ordered grade.
Direction: Transverse for WT and OD allowing to machine 7.5 mm sample and in all other cases specimen are taken in longitudinal direction. Minimum wall allowing Charpy V-specimen is taken according to table 22, requirement of API 5L (45th Ed., December 2012)/ISO 3183:2012.
For all other tubes WT ≥ 6 mm test shall be performed in longitudinal direction acc. to EN10225:2009 as well as acc. to ASTM A370 for specified WT 5 ≤ t < 6 mm.
