Normal carbon grades trend to embrittle at low temperature, well above service temperature limits in remote areas below -30°C. Low temperature grades are designed to be used in regions where high impact toughness at Arctic temperatures is required. The low alloyed carbon steel for low temperature applications are in full accordance with the latest edition of API 5CT.
These grades are designed to withstand transportation and handling in low temperature and Arctic conditions
