​For Special Hardness and Hardenability

Avadur® grades are based on the chrome-molybdenum grade 4140, offering an ideal balance between high hardness and yield strength plus good machinability. Their chemical composition qualifies them for heat treatment to a broad range of hardness, yield strength and tensile strength levels which can even be further varied by subsequent tempering.

 

Applications

Available in three different levels of impact toughness, Avadur® grades are specifically aligned to the requirements of the American mechanical engineering industry and the manufacture of accessories for the oil and gas sector. The special martensitic stainless steels for corrosive environments, 13 Cr L80 grades, are specifically intended for oil & gas fields containing CO2 and limited H2S. For oil & gas field accessories, Avadur® grade 4130 features excellent weldability with a specified minimum yield strength of 80 ksi or 110 ksi as per API 5CT.
