Boulogne-Billancourt, 3 September 2010 -
Vallourec, the world leader for advanced technology tubes manufactured
primarily for energy markets, today hosts a visit from French President Nicolas
Sarkozy to its Valinox Nucléaire subsidiary in Montbard (Côte d’Or, France).
The visit comes as Vallourec is carrying out
an €80 million investment programme at the site to extend the manufacturing
capacity for the advanced technology tubes used in nuclear power plants.
The visit honours the Group through its
recognition of Vallourec’s contribution to French nuclear industry excellence
and for its role in regenerating the local economy. It is also a tribute to the
key role played by French industry in technological innovation, economic growth,
and job creation.
This strategic project will create 150 direct
jobs. The Valinox Nucléaire plant in Montbard will be able to produce 5,000km
of tubes per year by 2011, a threefold increase on current output, and will
employ a total workforce of 480.
The investment programme will enable Vallourec
to bolster its world leadership in tubing for the power generation industry and
to support its customers in their plans to build new nuclear power plants and
extend the operational lives of existing facilities.
