Spire of One World Trade Center to consist of Vallourec tubes

14/09/2011 - United States, Industry, Construction and Solutions
Ten years after the terrorist attacks of 11 September, One World Trade Center is taking shape at Ground Zero.

Standing at 541 metres or 1,776 feet – an allusion to the US Declaration of Independence signed in 1776 –, upon completion, the "Freedom Tower" will be New York’s tallest building.

Vallourec is proud to contribute to this important structure by supplying approximately 480 tonnes of structural steel hollow sections – known as MSH (Mannesmann Stahlbau Hohlprofil) sections – to construct the 124 metre spire of New York’s future landmark.

The products were manufactured in the company's plants in France (Aulnoye) and Germany (Düsseldorf and Mülheim). One World Trade Center is due to be completed in 2013.
