Inauguration of VSB

The new state-of-the art integrated plant, Vallourec & Sumitomo Tubos do Brasil (VSB), a joint venture of Vallourec (56%) and Sumitomo (44%), is inaugurated today.

The new state-of-the art integrated plant, Vallourec & Sumitomo Tubos do Brasil (VSB), a joint venture of Vallourec (56%) and Sumitomo (44%), is inaugurated today in the presence of Dilma Rousseff, President of Brazil and Antônio Anastasia, the Governor of the State of Minas Gerais.

Located in Jeceaba, in the state of Minas Gerais, construction of the plant, which began in 2008, is now completed and production is in the start-up phase. The plant will have a production capacity of 1 million tonnes of steel and 600,000 tonnes of tubes, 50/50 distributed between its two shareholders Vallourec and Sumitomo. It will employ 1,600 people.

Destined to serve the international oil and gas markets, VSB will boost the Group’s tube production capacity by over 10%.
